Our Reading I “Intro to Phonics” class is designed to introduce young learners in Pre-K and Kindergarten to the world of reading through fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities. The course lays the groundwork for strong early literacy by building essential phonemic awareness, sight word recognition, and comprehension skills—all in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Key Learning Goals:

- Phonemic Awareness: Students will develop key skills such as sound and word discrimination, blending, phoneme deletion, and manipulation.
- Sight Words: Focused practice with high-frequency DOLCH sight words to build reading fluency and confidence.
- Comprehension: Engaging activities that strengthen listening and understanding, as well as the ability to make predictions and connections with texts.

Class Format:

- Experienced Instructor: Taught by a certified elementary school teacher with a specialization in early literacy.
- Schedule: Online classes meet twice a week; each session lasts 30 minutes. In-Person classes meet once a week; each session lasts 60 minutes
By the end of the course, students will have built a strong foundation for reading success—and, just as importantly, a lifelong love for books.

- This course is ideal for children new to reading or reading at levels A–D.
