CHESS INTERMEDIATE IV “ROOK MASTERS”

Our Chess Intermediate IV Rook Masters” course is designed for students who have mastered core intermediate strategies and are now ready to push their chess skills to a more advanced level. This course focuses on deepening analytical thinking, advanced planning, and high-level competitive play.

Key Skills Covered:
    • Applying complex tactical combinations in practical settings (e.g., deflection, overloading, and underpromotion)
    • Deep strategic planning: outposts, space advantage, and dynamic imbalances
    • Mastery of advanced theoretical endgames and practical endgame conversion
    • Building a versatile and flexible opening repertoire tailored to personal style
    • In-depth positional evaluation and long-term planning
    • Advanced game analysis: famous master games and student self-analysis
    • Tournament mindset: time management, preparation routines, and psychological readiness

Classes feature advanced board demonstrations, intensive guided analysis, and tournament-style match play. Students are strongly encouraged to compete regularly in USCF-rated regional and national tournaments.

Prerequisites:

Completion of Intermediate III or equivalent tournament-level experience.

Duration:

One school year (approximately 32–34 lessons).
